Welcome to the first issue of Democratic Renewal, an electronic newsletter providing news and analysis on democratic renewal in Canada.

Democratic Renewal will cover public policy initiatives at the municipal, provincial and federal levels to reform key institutions of Canada’s democratic system, including elections, elected assemblies and political parties.

We want Democratic Renewal to engage the citizens of Canada, especially young Canadians, who are turning off Canadian democracy. We want to challenge politicians – including MPs, Members of provincial assemblies and municipal councillors – to help strengthen Canadian democracy.

We want to facilitate cooperation between politicians and citizens in renewing Canadian democracy.

What’s Inside

Democratic Renewal will be published six times a year in electronic form. A typical issue will contain news items on democratic reform, policy briefs on key issues, links to democratic reform projects and feedback from online forums.
